Beta Hydroxy Acids – BHAs
What are they?
Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHAs), like the widely used Salicylic Acid, are oil-soluble exfoliants. Unlike AHAs, which are water-soluble, BHAs can penetrate deep into the pores, making them especially effective for oily and acne-prone skin types.
Uses of BHAs in Skincare
In dermatology, BHAs are commonly found in cleansers, toners, and serums to help clear blackheads, whiteheads, and congested pores. Thanks to their anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects, they’re also beneficial for soothing irritated or acne-prone skin.
BHAs help improve skin clarity and texture by minimizing breakouts and refining the appearance of pores. They penetrate pores to dissolve excess oil and dead skin cells, reducing acne and promoting a more balanced, even complexion with consistent use.
